DELO Saharazad of the PPD requested our
participation in creating a district-wide workshop for the year 1 and 2
teachers, focused on phonics used in the syllabus. It involved 2 full days of planning at the
PPD prior to a full day workshop. Three
teachers from the previous TELL program were also presenting. They were quite capable, but leaned on me to
plan their portion, as well as outlining what each of the mentors would do, so
there was a tremendous amount of planning on my part. I’m happy to say it went extremely well and
participants seemed to learn and enjoy themselves. They were quite beautifully creative at the
end when it was time for them to produce a phonics activity of their own.
